He's losing his identity and doubting his beliefs, which scares him. The lyrics reveal that despite Sam's relentless fighting, he doesn't know why he picks up his blade. This song plays during Jetstream Sam's boss fight and does an excellent job at summarizing his backstory. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance songs, ranked from best to worst 13) The Only Thing I Know For Real Here are all songs from the soundtrack of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, ranked. Since this game is mostly action with bits of story, boss battles are a rare opportunity to reveal the identity of your opponent. Each of these soundtracks tells a story about their respective character, singing their narrative while Raiden attempts to slice them into a million pieces. Even the lowest songs on this list are still exceptionally composed songs. You don't have to play or even like the game to appreciate what Platinum Games was able to create, musically. There are no bad songs in a game like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. It's the type of soundtrack you listen to on your iPod and tell your friends to buy. Not only did "Revengeance" get the music right, they managed to provide a complete musical package for fans of the series and soundtrack aficionados Granted, it's not for everyone and the instrumental versions occasionally feel redundant, but it's the type of soundtrack that if it hits your musical tastes, chances are you will fall instantly in love. In light of last year's "Spec Ops: The Line," which featured a wonderful mix of orchestral music and licensed tracks, neither of which saw commercial release, I'd love to see more of this type of offering. "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance" easily fits that bill and, hopefully, will continue to pave the way for additional titles. Whether it's from a single band (Noisia, Health, Combichrist, etc.), or multiple groups, soundtracks which can rival that of movie offerings are a huge step forward. They're not bad, they just feel like filler on what is already a solid soundtrack.Įarlier this year, when reviewing the " DMC: Devil May Cry" original soundtrack, I mused that more and more action titles seem to be eschewing traditional orchestral pieces and opting for blockbuster movie-style numbers. Generally I enjoy a good instrumental, but when the vocals feel integral to the sound and feel of so many of these tracks, the instrumental versions pale in comparison. The only downside of the soundtrack is that, while it boasts an impressive 29 tracks, nearly half of them are merely instrumental versions of the same tracks. Miller also contributes "Red Sun," which manages to combine the industrial sound with a heavier metal vibe that works in its favor. The pieces sets the tone for most of the soundtrack, most of which is comprised by an old school, 90s-style industrial rock sound. "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance" starts off with the synth-fueled piece, "Rules of Nature (Platinum Mix)," sung by Jason Miller (of occasional Godhead collaboration). I'm pleased to say that your feelings about a Platinum-style hack, slash, beat 'em up game featuring a cyborg ninja aside, this is one amazing soundtrack. I feel it's fair to admit I've not been a fan of the "Metal Gear" series since Raiden was introduced and I approached the "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Vocal Tracks)" with great skepticism. "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance" is receiving solid reviews across the board for both fans of the series and fans of Platinum Games, with most people noting the flashier, more cinematic tone of the game. When Platinum announced they would be brining a Raiden-centric "Metal Gear" game to the masses, fans knew they were going to be in for a change of pace.
